The purpose of this book club blog is to unite Barnard College women in the greater San Diego area through their love of reading, learning, and the exchange of ideas. All of the strong-minded alumnae who participate may consider themselves welcome and honorary members of our book club!
Do you think the movie version of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo did the book justice? What did you make of the alternate ending with regard to what happened to Harriet and her cousin?
No wonder Mara was nominated for an Academy Award. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo did not disappoint at the cinema. Debbie, Sharon, Bryna, and Jennifer, it was so much fun watching the movie with you!
I was so pleased to get an email invitation from the Barnard Book Club, and have the opportunity to join you for a movie. What a lovely and fascinating group of women attended, with a wide range of ages, all so accomplished, interesting and friendly. Although I'm signed up to receive Alumni communications, I don't seem to have gotten one from the Barnard Book Club before, but I'm glad I received this one and had the chance to make everyone's acquaintance. I look forward to getting more involved and meeting more remarkable women.
The feeling is mutual! Thank you so much for agreeing to speak at our next book club event, which should draw even more of those lovely and fascinating women you mentioned. ;)
We are thrilled to count an alumna like you as a member. Now that I personally have your contact information, you should receive every email and invitation.
i loved the movie and definitely thought it did the book justice - particularly when compared to the Swedish movie version (which leaves out a lot). It's a fascinating series that is not only entertaining but carries a lot of important themes about gender based violence. So glad the book club chose this book!
